A lot of interesting releases came out of early 70s France, combining elements of chanson, psych, prog, & baroque pop. One example is Guy Skornik's excellent 1971 album 'Pour Pauwels'. 'Gurdjieff', from this album, is a tribute to the Russian mystic: https://t.co/qsJWoGHogH

Here's an interesting 1971 Billboard article on the French music scene of the time. It discusses the co-existing genres of chanson, free jazz & 'pop'/rock, types of venues, and the post-68 govt reaction to underground youth culture. @Frenchrocksmplr @R_Patfield @JonathyneBriggs pic.twitter.com/Rc5kMZz9ge

Adieu to another great: Francis Lai has died at the age of 86. He was a prolific film composer, writing over 100 scores. He's best known, of course, for the theme from 'Un homme et une femme' (1966), which was a huge international sensation: https://t.co/Nt6BpdyosU.
